As time passed, and the dwarven kingdom went into decline, the Mines of Karak became lost and passed into history bordering on legend. These mines were once the prized possession of the Ironfell clan centuries ago, so prized that their location was a guarded secret, even among the clan members themselves. It would seem that during the investigation into Sarshan and his activities within Overlook, a document had been discovered in a warehouse that referenced a shipment coming from the Mines of Karak and potential clues to its location. That said, Kalad was not here to meet the party on purely city business, rather he was passing a request for the party to meet with one of his allies.Īgreeing to such, the Guard met up with a dwarf named Bram Ironfell, who was not only a leader of the Ironfell clan itself, but also an extremely high ranking member of the preeminent trade group that dominates the area called the Elsir Consortium. To that point he passed information that the Shadowrift itself seemed to have gone inoperable, the prevailing thought with the city mages being that the destination point was no longer viable.

Kalad had now taken a position within the government acting as a diplomat of Overlook. However, while the basic legwork was being done by city underlings, the heroes themselves found some time to rest and recoup.Ī few days later the party was meet up with by their friend Kalad Cleftstriker, Paladin of the dwarven god Moradin. City elders are taking the events seriously, particularly the omens of things to come discovered by the Vale Guard while within the Shadowfell. Having exposed a security breach within the walls of Overlook, the party has turned over grunt-work investigation into the Shadowrift of Umbraforge to the city of Overlook itself.
